Frequently Asked Questions by Teachers

What will my students do when they visit Parliament House?

A typical school excursion to Parliament House, on a non-sitting day, consists of a combination of explanatory talks and interactive role-play and parliamentary debating in the Legislative Assembly chamber.

On a sitting day students are escorted through the building and given background information before entering the Public Gallery of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly to watch Parliament in action.

Whenever possible we arrange for Members of Parliament to meet classes visiting from their electoral district or region.
