Educational Tours


The Parliamentary Education Office provides curriculum support for school groups and broader civics education for Tertiary and other educational Institutions. Excursions may be arranged for any weekday, however, the format will vary depending on whether or not Parliament is sitting at the time of the tour.

All tours are led by experienced education presenters and are free of charge.

Sitting Day Tours
Students will tour Parliament House and may have the opportunity to observe Parliament at work and meet a Member of Parliament.

Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.

Non-Sitting Day Tours
Students will learn about Parliament by participating in an educational tour of Parliament House and may have the opportunity to undertake a role-play in the Legislative Assembly Chamber. Students may also have the opportunity to meet a Member of Parliament.

Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.





No Bags and Backpacks - Parliament House is a secure building - bags and backpacks are not permitted


No Food or Drink


No Water Bottles

No Photography


No Workbooks or Pens and Pencils


Prohibited items - no sharp items including knives, scissors, cutlery, screwdrivers. Other prohibited items include spray paint, banners, placards and flags and items that make noises like whistles.


Bag containing medical equipment including epipens are permitted into Parliament House

Booking a Tour

Every effort is made to link our learning experiences to current classroom or whole school programs.

Maximum student numbers for groups:



35 - Years 5, 6


30 - Years 7, 8


25 - Years 9, 10

  • Maximum of 25 for all other student group including years 11, 12 and Tertiary Students.
  • Accompanying adults (including teachers) - minimum 2 to a maximum of 5
  • Small groups of students and/or accompanying adults must be no less than 10.

Keeping Safe while on Excursion

Country School Travel Rebate

The Parliamentary Education Office provides a rebate of $200per school per year to travel to Parliament House to participate in the Parliamentary Civics and Citizenship tour program. Eligibility is for schools located 150 to 259 kilometres from Perth. Find out more
