Position Title:Clerk Assistant (Committees)
Level and Salary:Level 8 - $131,296 – $142,609 per annum + Superannuation

Primary Responsibilities and Additional Information:Applications are invited for the position of Clerk Assistant (Committees) with the Department of the Legislative Council of Western Australia.

This position is responsible for managing the committee operations of the Legislative Council, which involves managing approximately 20 staff providing the research, analytical and administrative support to Parliamentary Committees of the Legislative Council. The successful applicant will have strong demonstrated management skills, be highly organised and outcomes focused, and have a very good understanding of the role, purpose and operation of the Parliament of Western Australia and its committees.

This role rotates with the Clerk Assistant (Procedure) who manages the work unit that provides procedural advice and chamber related documents to Members to support sittings of the Legislative Council.

Responsibilities and duties include:

· Manage the Committee Services Function;
· Manage, coordinate and provide advice to committees regarding committee activities, including the conduct of inquiries, investigative methodologies and legal and procedural requirements;
· Lead a team with focus on service delivery and improvement in accordance with the department’s Strategic Plan and Business Plan;
· Be a member of the Executive Management Team;
· Represent and negotiate with external parties to achieve departmental outcomes; and
· Discharge the duties of a Clerk-at-the-Table in the House.
