Parliament: 40 Session: 1

FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT LINK — TUNNELLING MACHINES

208. Hon PETER COLLIER to the minister representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to the tunnel-boring machines, Sandy and Grace, at the Metronet Forrestfield–Airport Link.

(1) On what date did the tunnel-boring machines stop work?

(2) Have the tunnel-boring machines commenced work again?

(3) Have any other issues been identified with the tunnel-boring machines since repair work commenced; and, if yes, what are those issues?

(4) Has the project been further delayed as a result of the tunnel-boring machines stopping work; and, if yes, what is the expected delay?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of the question.

(1)–(2) I table the attached document from the publicly available Forrestfield–Airport Link website.

[See paper 2491.]

(3) No.

(4) The Minister for Transport advised in December 2018 that the first trains are expected to run on the line in the second half of 2021.
