FAMILY AND DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE — MATILDA GARD SERVICES
209. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for the Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence:
I
refer to question without notice 26 asked on 13 February 2019, in which the
minister encouraged Matilda Gard Services
to have discussions with the Department of Communities about its plans for the
provision of ongoing services.
(1) Is the
minister aware that Matilda Gard, a place of refuge for women and children
within the community, has now contacted the minister's department?
(2) Is the
minister aware that despite being recognised by her department as ''a
referral pathway for women experiencing FDV who are transitioning from a crisis
into midterm transitional housing'', the department will not provide
Matilda Gard Services with any funding?
(3) What steps is
the minister currently taking to make sure this facility in Guildford does not
close down?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) Yes. The department will not
provide Matilda Gard Services with funding.
(3) There is no
contracting relationship between the Department of Communities and Matilda Gard
Services. Communities has provided Casson Homes Incorporated with information
on the development of the 10-year Strategy for Family and Domestic Violence,
and encouraged Casson Homes Incorporated to participate in consultations to
ensure its input is considered in developing the strategy.
