The Presiding Officers recently launched ‘How Did I Get Here?’, a series of 10 photographs from five of Australia’s most accomplished photographic artists, on display at Parliament House.
Based on the 1980 Talking Heads song, ‘Once in a Lifetime’, the exhibition explores the question of how each of the characters in the photographs arrived at that moment, while exploring the challenges of coming of age, cultural continuity, maintaining a sense of self around others and changing social conditions.
The exhibition is part of the State Art Collection and is on loan from the Art Gallery of Western Australia, as part of the Regional Exhibition Touring Boost, which takes the collection to regional centres.
‘How Did I Get Here?’ is on display at Parliament House until January 2022 and can be seen by joining a public tour or an
art tour.
