New varieties of kangaroo paw were recently planted in the President’s and Speaker’s garden on the western side of Parliament House, including a blue variant known as ‘The Masquerade’ (Anigozanthos), the only blue kangaroo paw in existence. The Masquerade is the product of ground-breaking plant hybridisation research and nearly a decade of development by plant breeders at the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority. New Grevilleas - including Scarlet Moon, Raspberry Dream and Tangerine Dream, have also been planted throughout the gardens.
