Road Traffic Amendment Bill (No. 2) 2007

SynopsisThe purpose of this Bill is to amend the Road Traffic Act 1974 in three key areas;
  1. penalties applying to hit and run cases where drivers leave the scene of traffic crashes and/or fail to report crashes resulting inn death or serious injury;
  2. changes to affect the Government's novice driver reform package; and
  3. the method of reporting breath analysis results to comply with new Australian Standards.

Royal Assent given 21 Dec 2007 as Act No. 39 of 2007. Different sections of this Act come into operation on Royal Assent and Proclamation. For details refer to Commencement Clause of the Bill (see also Assent and Commencement information for Acts)
