Medical Practitioners Bill 2006

Bill No.183

SynopsisThis Bill provides for the registration and regulation of medical practitioners. The Bill implements the recommendations of the Review of the Medical Act 1894 that was provided to the Minster for Health in 2001.

The Bill repeals the Medical Act 1894 and replaces it with a modern registration scheme to ensure that only properly qualified and competent persons are registered to practise medicine and to regulate the practice by those persons for the purpose of protecting consumers of health services in Western Australia.
