To the President and Members of the Legislative Council of the Parliament of Western Australia in Parliament assembled. We the undersigned ...
call for eRideable legislation reform to encourage more uptake, encourage safe use, and promote public awareness in a positive manner.
This should include changes to mirror legislation of what is allowed in Queensland:
• changing the maximum weight of an eRideable from 25kg per device to 60kg
• a limit of 25kp/h on shared and bicycle paths, without restrictions relating to devices that possess the capability of exceeding 25kp/h.
Furthermore, we urge you to use any means at your disposal to encourage the safe use of all eRideables and inform the public on their immense collective merits. The benefits of using an eRideable to replace a motor vehicle for commuting include reducing congestion for other road users and reducing local emissions which contribute to cleaner air and better wellbeing.
The world is undergoing a transport revolution, and this is Western Australia's chance to embrace it and place us at the forefront of innovative personal transport methods.
The WA eRiding community is very much open to collaboration and consultation on these efforts, we welcome further engagement on the issue.
The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the Government to reform legislation on eRideables in Western Australia.
And your petitioners as in duty bound, will ever pray.
