request that the Legislative Council inquire into the provision of medically supervised injection rooms for the following reasons:
1) Drug users are able to connect with medical professionals, social workers, and other support services.
2) Safe injection sites provide drug users with a location where they can use their drug under supervision and with clean supplies.
3) Research shows that mortality rates are reduced, reliance on emergency services is reduced thereby reducing stress on the healthcare system.
4) A specialised medically supervised facility allows for users to inject out of the public eye.
5) Safe injection spaces allow for dissemination of accurate information around health, drug use, and the long term affects.
