Important Information:

On 5 April 2007 the Committee tabled its Report No.6, Where from? Where to? A Discussion on Remote Aboriginal Communities. The purpose of this Report is to provide a preliminary account of the history of remote Aboriginal communities in Western Australia and of the major changes currently taking place in the arrangements at all levels of government concerning Indigenous Affairs. The Report is presented as a discussion paper in the hope that it might contribute to an informed debate on these issues. The Committee would welcome the views, corrections and insights of interested members of the community before finalising its findings and recommendations. PLEASE NOTE: All submissions become the property of the Committee and will become public documents after tabling in the Legislative Assembly, unless the Committee resolves otherwise. The Committee can also resolve to publish submissions on the internet but has undertaken not to publish the personal contact details of people making submissions in this manner. Anyone seeking to make a confidential submission to the Committee should seek further information from the Committee’s Principal Research Officer prior to making their submission.

Terms of Reference:

That the Committee examine, report and make recommendations on successful initiatives in remote Aboriginal communities. The Committee will pay particular attention to:

1. The costs and benefits of successful initiatives;
2. The model utilised for the development and delivery of successful initiatives; and
3. Where possible, comparing and contrasting the models utilised for the development and delivery of successful initiatives.
