Origin of the Name:
Named after the feature of this name which flows through the area. Southern River is a descriptive name, the river being the southern tributary of the Canning River. It was first recorded in 1841.

Terry Healy (ALP)

Terry and his family live in Huntingdale. Terry studied at Curtin University where he was Guild President, and taught at Southern River College; he was also a Councillor at the City of Gosnells.

Terry has had a long association with WA Scouts and the Gosnells Lions, as well as many other community organisations. He is also a civil celebrant.

Terry is passionate about education. He believes that a top quality education has the power to provide every child regardless of their background with the opportunity to succeed in life.

Terry is the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Police; Corrective Services; Racing and Gaming; Defence Industry; Veterans Issues
