About the Department
The Parliamentary Services Department provides specialist support services and resources to the users of Parliament, the Presiding Officers, members of Parliament, the Department of the Legislative Council, the Department of the Legislative Assembly and visitors to Parliament.
These services include building and facilities management, catering, security, IT infrastructure and support, Hansard and library services, and parliamentary education.
The Parliamentary Services Department works with the chamber departments to ensure that the needs of the members and staff are met and that Parliament is a safe, welcoming and educational environment for the 50 000 visitors per annum who attend the building.
Our Structure
The department’s Executive Manager is responsible for providing overall management and leadership of the Parliamentary Service Department’s business units and staff.
The department comprises the following three directorates each headed by a director: Member and Operational Support; Parliamentary Information and Education; and Parliamentary Finance and Governance.
Collectively, the directorates provide services including building maintenance, Security and Reception Services, catering for meetings and functions, Human Resources, Information Technology infrastructure and support, transcription and broadcasting services for the chambers and committees, community education, a library to support parliamentary business, and financial management and governance.
