Sir Charles and Richard Court - Mary Moore

Painting The Courts by Mary Moore

On loan to Parliament from the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, Sir Charles Court and Richard Court depicts the 25th and 30th Premiers of Western Australia standing in the Speaker’s Corridor of Parliament House.

Richard Court is the son of Sir Charles, and succeeded him as member for Nedlands upon his retirement from Parliament in 1982 after almost 30 years of service.  Richard Court retired in 2001 after almost 20 years as member.

The artwork has been generously loaned to the WA Parliament for two years, and, fittingly, is on display in the Speaker’s Corridor. Visitors can view the painting by joining one of the monthly art tours of Parliament House.
