Primary Responsibilities and Additional Information: | Applications are sought from suitably qualified persons for the position of Information Technology Security Officer. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic organisation with generous employment conditions.
The Information Technology (IT) Unit is responsible for the provision of technology, communication and support services within the Parliamentary Precinct.
This new role will administer Parliament’s information technology cyber security infrastructure, governance framework and associated documentation, processes and procedures; ensure business appropriate and contemporary cyber protection policies are implemented and enforced; ensure the delivery of appropriate cyber awareness and security training; and, be responsible for evaluating and resolving security incidents.
Applicants should note, some after-hours (overtime) work may be required.
The successful applicant will need to meet the following selection criteria:
Essential
1. Relevant tertiary and/or professional qualifications (eg CISSP or similar) in an IT or cyber security related discipline or equivalent experience (minimum five years) in an IT environment.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary IT security practices, including relevant industry frameworks, standards, policies and guidelines.
3. Proven experience in a system administration role with practical experience in defining, installation, configuration, of network security systems.
4. Demonstrated knowledge and application of cyber security incident management, risk management and change management practices and strategies, particularly as they pertain to the provision and integration of system security services.
5. Experience in problem determination and resolution, and ability to research complex issues, analyse data and deliver effective solutions that meet IT security requirements and business needs.
6. Well developed communication skills, including: written and verbal communication, negotiation, influencing and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate across a technical and non-technical audience.
7. Experience working with multidisciplinary and cross functional teams and capacity to understand the organisation’s objectives and align operational activities accordingly.
Highly Desirable
1. Experience with a variety of cyber security software and technologies.
2. Experience with Checkpoint firewall software.
3. Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role.
