Primary Responsibilities and Additional Information:Parliamentary Debates (Hansard) is the official record of debates of the Parliament of Western Australia.

A position is being offered by the Parliament of Western Australia for a Hansard Reporter OR a Hansard Reporter (Trainee), with primary responsibility for creating an impartial, accurate, literate and timely record of parliamentary debates and committee hearings.

Please note that these positions require night work dictated by the sittings of the Parliament.

The successful candidate for the Hansard Reporter position will have at least two years’ experience reporting the chambers and committees of a Westminster system–based Parliament.

Depending on skills and experience, the salary range for Hansard Reporters is $83,593 to $120,725.

OR

The successful candidate for a Hansard Reporter (Trainee) position will possess well-developed comprehension and language skills, an excellent knowledge of current affairs and good word processing and computing skills. A good knowledge of the parliamentary process and transcription and/or publishing experience will be regarded favourably. Previous reporting experience is desirable; however, the Parliament of Western Australia offers a training program in all aspects of Hansard reporting.

Depending on skills and experience, the salary range for a Hansard Reporter (Trainee) is $64,172 to $74,781.

Generous conditions of employment are offered, including overtime, six weeks’ leave and the ability to purchase additional leave.
