Position Title:Administrative Assistant
Level and Salary:63,172 - $68,256 pa (Level 2) + superannuation

Length of Contract:12 months
Primary Responsibilities and Additional Information:Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons interested in working in the Parliamentary committee environment.

The Committee Office provides executive, research and administrative support to committees of the Legislative Council. Committees are comprised of Members of Parliament and inquire into and report to the Legislative Council on a range of issues affecting the administration of the State. The position offers daily exposure to the Parliament, political processes, the Parliament’s scrutiny role and frequent contact with parliamentarians on the committees.

This role is required to provide administrative and secretarial support to committee staff and section managers including: reception duties, filing, record keeping, typing correspondence, making administrative arrangements for committees, formatting documents including committee reports and providing refreshments for committee meetings.

Applicants will need to meet the following criteria:

Excellent keyboarding and document formatting skills
Strong interpersonal skills, particularly oral communication
Understanding of, and experience with, contemporary information technology
Ability to undertake multiple and varied tasks
Preparedness to undertake a range of tasks from menial to complex
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team

Two years experience in a similar position
Experience with records management
Ability to upload and download information to and from internet websites
