FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ACT —
SPECIAL PURPOSE ACCOUNTS
577. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Treasurer:
I refer to section 20 of the
Financial Management Act 2006 that allows the Treasurer to direct all or part
of moneys standing in a special purpose account that the Treasurer deems not to
be reasonably required for the purposes of that account to be credited to the
consolidated fund.
(1) For the each
of the financial years 2016–17 to 2020–21 inclusive, on how
many occasions has the current or former Treasurer used the power under section
20 to transfer amounts from special purpose accounts to the consolidated
account?
(2) For each of those occasions —
(a) what was the total value of all funds transferred
from special purpose accounts to the consolidated account;
(b) from which
accounts and respective agencies or departments were these funds withdrawn and
why; and
(c) on what dates did the transfers
take place?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the Leader of the Opposition
for some notice of the question. The following answer is provided on behalf of
the Treasurer.
This question spans the terms of
three Treasurers over a five-year period. It is not possible in the limited
time permitted to provide a complete and accurate answer. I recommend that the
honourable member put the question on notice to allow the Department of
Treasury adequate time to answer.
