CRIMINAL PROPERTY
CONFISCATION ACT — REVIEW
419. Hon AARON STONEHOUSE to the Leader of the House
representing the Attorney General:
I
refer the Attorney General to the review of the Criminal Property Confiscation
Act undertaken by Hon Wayne Martin and
tabled in the other place, without comment, late last year. Given how damning
the report was and having had more than four months since its tabling to
consider the recommendations set out in the report, will the Attorney General
share with us his expectations as to when we might expect a government
response?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I draw the house's attention
to what has been going on for the last four months; I do not know whether
anyone has noticed! But I thank the member for the question and provide the
following answer.
Due to the government's
significant law reform agenda and the precedence of addressing urgent matters
related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the report of Hon Wayne Martin, QC, remains
under consideration.
