GIFTED AND TALENTED SECONDARY SELECTIVE ENTRANCE PROGRAM

1302. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and Training:

I refer to the gifted and talented secondary selective entrance program.

(1) Will the minister provide a breakdown of the number of students in years 6, 8, 9 and 10 who applied in 2017, 2018 and 2019 for entry into —

(a) academic

(b) arts; and

(c) languages programs?

(2) For each of the year groups listed in (1), how many students were eligible for consideration for placement after meeting the minimum academic selective entrance test score and other relevant selection requirements?

(3) Of the students referred to in (2), how many were offered and accepted a place for the following school year?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. I am unable to provide an answer today as the information could not be collated within the time frame available. However, I undertake to provide an answer to this question on 19 November. I would normally have told the member that before question time. I was slightly preoccupied by other matters.
