PUBLIC TRANSPORT AUTHORITY — RADIO SYSTEMS
REPLACEMENT PROJECT
556. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the minister's
statement in the Legislative Assembly on 14 June concerning the termination of
the original Public Transport Authority radio systems replacement project.
(1) Were any
contractual payments, other than the reported $6.6 million termination
settlement, provided to Huawei–UGL by the state government between 2017
and the present day?
(2) If yes to (1), will the
minister please advise the details of these payments?
(3) Were any
other costs incurred by the state government in the course of drafting and
implementing the original contract?
(4) If yes to (3), will the
minister please advise the details?
(5) When was the new digital radio
system due to enter service under the original contract?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(5) A settlement of
$6.6 million was reached with Huawei–UGL.
Delivery
of a new digital radio network has been incorporated into the high-capacity
signalling program of works, which includes the radio systems replacement
project, the public transport operations control centre and the train control
and signalling project. The new digital radio network is expected to be
delivered in 2025.
