Parliamentary Questions

Question On Notice No. 2479 asked in the Legislative Council on 17 September 2019 by Hon Nick Goiran

Question Directed to the: Leader of the House representing the Minister for Child Protection
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Question

I refer to tabled paper 2983, which was tabled in response to my Question Without Notice No. 929, and I ask:
(a) how many children are in care in the South West District; and
(b) how many children in the South West District are on the Monitored List?

Answered on 23 October 2019

 As at 6 September 2019

(a) 389

(b) Please refer to tabled paper 3076, tabled on 19 September 2019.

Children in care monitored cases are children in care who are settled with their needs being met. These are monitored regularly by the Team Leader and or District Director.  If concerns are raised for any child on the children in care monitored cases list, an urgent review is undertaken by senior staff and immediate allocation to a Case Worker occurs.

Recruitment of an additional 7.5FTE is underway. It is anticipated that these additional positions will assist in reducing the number of cases on the monitored list.
