With regard to the biological valuations of native forests as per the Forest Products Commission's annual reports:
(a) what was the biological asset value at the beginning of the year, of the area logged in each of the years 2002-03 through to 2017-18, and what was the revenue received for the area cut, the actual point-of-sale costs and the necessary costs to get the assets to market in each year (as described on page 60 of the Forest Products Commission (FPC) Annual Report 16-17); and
(b) please confirm whether ‘actual point-of-sale costs and the necessary costs to get the assets to market’ include all related costs of operating the FPC such as, administrative costs, management costs, etc?

Answered on 3 April 2019

(a) Native forest biological asset values are not specific to individual areas of forest; it is done at an aggregate level of the available forest estate. A comprehensive explanation of biological assets is provided in the Financial Statements of the 2017-2018 Annual Report section 2.17 page 59, see Attachment 1.

[See tabled paper no.]

The revenue and applicable costs of sale, for areas harvested each year, are disclosed in the relevant year’s annual report, see Attachment 2.

[See tabled paper no.]

(b) Yes.
