Parliament: 41 Session: 1

PUBLIC HOUSING — WAITING LIST

586. Hon STEVE MARTIN to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Housing:

I refer to the 3 478 applications on the public housing priority waitlist referred to in question without notice 533, asked by Hon Dr Brad Pettitt.

(1) How many applications are currently being assessed for the priority waitlist?

(2) What is the average wait time for applications to be assessed for the priority waitlist?

(3) What is the longest time any application has been waiting to be assessed for the priority waitlist?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(3) As at 31 July 2021, 3 478 applications were on the priority waitlist, with assessments completed. Applicants applying for priority assistance must have an active wait turn application. Decisions for approving or declining priority assistance are made following a priority housing need assessment or a priority interview, in accordance with the priority housing need policy.
