Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 459 asked in the Legislative Council on 10 August 2021 by Hon James Hayward

Parliament: 41 Session: 1

BUNBURY OUTER RING ROAD — ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

459. Hon JAMES HAYWARD to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Transport:

I refer to the Bunbury Outer Ring Road.

(1) In relation to the southern section of the BORR, has the government considered alternative routes other than the current route through Gelorup?

(2) If yes to (1), how many alternative routes have been identified?

(3) For each alternative route identified, what was the main reason for not pursuing that option?

(4) What impact would the current preferred route for the southern section of the BORR have on the basalt resource near Allenville Road; specifically, could quarry operations continue if current plans were realised?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(3) A number of alternative routes were considered during the planning process, with the comprehensive reasons for selecting the original route detailed in the Bunbury Outer Ring Road: Southern section: Alignment selection report.

(4) The basalt resource and its operation is being managed through the project planning and development.
