CAMP SCHOOLS AND LANDSDALE FARM SCHOOL — OPERATORS

797. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Leader of the House representing the Premier:

I refer to Legislative Council question without notice 767, answered by Minister Ellery on Tuesday, 11 September 2018, in which she stated, and I quote, that it ''has always been the case'' that ministerial media statements are not distributed or uploaded to the government's official website on weekends.

(1) Is this the Premier's understanding of the process?

(2) If yes to (1), why have media statements from other ministers been uploaded on Saturdays and Sundays at least 15 times since 1 January this year, including six of the Premier's?

(3) Is the correct answer in fact that the minister rushed together a media statement to avoid scrutiny from the public and media over an agreement that has not yet even been finalised?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

On behalf of the Leader of the House, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(3) The media statement the member refers to was provided to Fairbridge WA, Family Support WA Inc and ABC radio on Friday, and was circulated to statewide media on the morning of Saturday, 8 September 2018. To assist in managing workflow for Department of the Premier and Cabinet staff, since 10 March 2018, weekend media statements are uploaded to the website on Monday mornings. DPC staff are on call on weekends if website updates are urgently required.
