Question

I refer to the cancellation of Septic Tank Effluent Disposal projects in Bindoon, Boyup Brook, Kukerin and Leonora under the State Government's Infill Sewerage Program, and I ask with respect to each location:

(a) what has been the cost to date of advancing each project;
(b) what was the estimated cost for each project;
(c) what are the local environmental implications of the cancellation of each project;
(d) what are the local development implications of the cancellation of each project; and
(e) who did the Minister or the Water Corporation consult with before making the decision, with respect to each project?

Bindoon:
Actual cost to date: $506,000
Original Estimate: $4.8m
Current Estimate: $12.1m

Boyup Brook:
Actual cost to date: $744,000
Original Estimate: $6.7m
Current Estimate: $16.2m

Kukerin:
Actual cost to date: $639,000
Original Estimate: $4.8m
Current Estimate: $6.7m

Leonora:
Actual cost to date: $542,000
Original Estimate: $3.3m
Current Estimate: $7.1m

(c) There are no significant environmental implications.

(d) The Water Corporation has offered to meet with the Shires to support alternate wastewater planning options around development aspirations.

(e) The Water Corporation was in frequent contact with each of the local government authorities during the planning and assessment of these projects.
