PORT HEDLAND VOLUNTARY BUYBACK SCHEME

528. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Ports:

I refer to the Port Hedland buyback scheme.

(1) Since the start of the scheme —

(a) how many first offers have been made;

(b) how many first offers were rejected; and

(c) how many rejected offers were renegotiated and subsequently accepted?

(2) What is the total cost to date?

(3) Can the minister confirm that short-stay accommodation venues are not eligible for the scheme; and, if yes, will any changes be made to cater for accommodation venues?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1) (a) There are 105 owners who have received offer outline letters.

(b) Three first offers were rejected.

(c) Nil.

(2) The total cost is approximately $15.17 million.

(3) Yes, short-stay accommodation venues are not eligible for the scheme, and no changes will be made to cater for accommodation venues.
