TERM-OF-GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES — 2008 PAYMENTS
774. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the payouts that term-of-government employees receive when their contracts conclude at the end of a government.
      (1) What was the total of payouts made to term-of-government employees by the state government at the conclusion of the Carpenter government in 2008?
(2) Did any current government ministers receive a payout in 2008?
      (3) If yes to (2), which minister or ministers and how much was the payout or payouts, calculated before tax and including all leave?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
      (1) The total gross figure for term-of-government payouts was $5 197 735.87. By way of context, the total gross term-of-government payouts for the former Barnett government was $5 652 135.36.
(2) Yes.
      (3) Rita Saffioti received a payout of $169 608.05 gross, including $37 216 in tax. By way of breakdown, that included annual leave of $6 870, eligible termination payments of $141 462, leave loading of $204.67, and long service leave of $21 064.23.
      Stephen Dawson received a payout of $64 886.58 gross, including $12 334 in tax. By way of breakdown, that included annual leave of $9 476.40, leave loading of $350.09, and eligible termination payments of $55 060.
      For the sake of context, former government minister Bill Marmion received a gross payout of $131 396.35 following his time in the Court government.
