CORRUPTION AND CRIME
COMMISSIONER — REAPPOINTMENT
479. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
My question is asked on behalf of
Hon Michael Mischin, who is on urgent parliamentary business.
I refer to the Premier's
dismissive and insubstantial blanket response that the Premier reserves the
right to discuss correspondence to my seven-part question without notice 475 of
19 May 2020 asking for specific information, including a request that he table
documents.
(1) In the
context of each of the questions, what does the Premier's answer mean?
(2) Why is he
unwilling to provide information in answer to these specific questions about
his handling of the appointment of a Corruption and Crime Commissioner?
It is a valid question.
The PRESIDENT: And a much
shorter one than the original one, I must say.
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The
answer was quite straightforward. The Premier reserves the right to discuss
correspondence in answer to questions, queries or inquiries and does not
require authority to do so.
