BANNED DRINKERS REGISTER TRIAL — PILBARA

1103. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the minister representing the Minister for Racing and Gaming:

I refer to the planned implementation of a trial of a banned drinkers register in the Pilbara.

(1) Is the government liaising with the director of Liquor Licensing to get uniform liquor restrictions in the Pilbara region?

(2) Can the minister please table any correspondence between the Minister for Racing and Gaming and the director of Liquor Licensing on this topic of a banned drinkers register?

(3) Will the minister please provide an actual versus allocated spend in regard to implementing the trial of a banned drinkers register?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for Racing and Gaming.

(1) The director of Liquor Licensing has provided advice to the Minister for Racing and Gaming on his views regarding the imposition of uniform liquor restrictions in the Pilbara region. Any decision regarding the imposition of liquor restrictions is made by the director of Liquor Licensing, who is independent of government.

(2) Not applicable.

(3) There has been no funding expended to date.
