FREMANTLE
PORT AUTHORITY — IRON ORE EXPORTS — KWINANA BULK TERMINAL
461. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Ports:
I refer to Fremantle Port Authority's
application under part V of the Environmental Protection Act to amend its
licence to export iron ore from 5.1 million tonnes to 2.5 million tonnes per
annum from August 2020.
(1) What volume
of iron ore was exported from the Kwinana Bulk Terminal for the financial years
2016–17 to 2020–21 inclusive?
(2) Why did the
Fremantle Port Authority request to decrease its export of iron ore from the
Kwinana Bulk Terminal from 5.1 million to 2.5 million tonnes a year effective
from 25 August 2020?
(3) Will the
minister table the process and the decision within the Fremantle Port Authority
to effectively halve its export of iron ore from the Kwinana Bulk Terminal?
(4) If no to (4),
why not?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
