FIREFIGHTING APPLIANCES — VOLUNTEER BUSH FIRE BRIGADES
87. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the installation of deluge systems to Department of Fire and Emergency Services volunteer bush fire brigade appliances.
(1) Were the brigades offered temporary replacement appliances whilst these modifications were undertaken?
(2) If yes to (1), were temporary replacement appliances the same specification as the appliances they replaced?
(3) When was the fitment of deluge systems commenced and has the program finished?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises the following.
(1) Yes.
(2) Yes, where possible. Where similar appliances were not available, alternative appliances that met operational requirements were provided.
(3) The fitment of deluge systems commenced on 21 September 2015 and is continuing.
