Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 15 asked in the Legislative Council on 13 March 2018 by Hon Martin Aldridge

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

MINISTER FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING — HON DARREN WEST — COMMENTS
      15. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Education and Training:
I refer to comments made by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Regional Development, Hon Darren West, MLC, on 13 December 2017 at Lancelin Primary School, when he addressed the end-of-year assembly and said, ''Minister Ellery is no longer my favourite minister.''
(1) Is the minister concerned that her own colleague has now refused to support her publicly?
(2) When will the minister do the honourable thing and resign?
Hon SUE ELLERY replied:
(1)–(2) I did not hear the second part of the question. Did the member ask me to resign?
Hon Martin Aldridge: I will ask it again. The second part of the question was: when will the minister do the honourable thing and resign?
Hon SUE ELLERY: The answer to that is that I have no intention of resigning. With respect to the first part, if the member seriously expects me to respond to his version of a quote of what was said and not give me any documented evidence of that, he will have to think again. Hon Darren West and I have a fantastic working relationship. I think he is doing a great job —
Hon Nick Goiran: Why is he so far away?
Hon SUE ELLERY: It is because he is a parliamentary secretary. I think he is doing a great job as a parliamentary secretary and representing his electorate. I look forward to continuing to work with him.
