Question Directed to the: Leader of the House representing the Premier
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Question

I refer to the answer to my question without notice asked on 15 August 2017 in which the House was informed that the Public Sector Commission is best placed to provide answers to questions arising from the resignation of Emma White, and I ask:

(a) on what date was the Commission given notice of Ms White’s resignation and how was that notice communicated;
(b) further to (a), was that the only notice given;
(c) what reasons were provided for the resignation;
(d) on what dates did the Public Sector Commissioner meet in person with Ms White between 11 March 2017 and 3 July 2017;
(e) what was the total of Ms White’s termination payment; and
(f) further to (e), what is the breakdown of that termination payment?
Answered on 12 September 2017

The Public Sector Commission advises:

(a) Ms White provided email advice to the Public Sector Commissioner on 17 May 2017 requesting compensation under Section 59 of the Public Sector Management Act 1994.

(b) Ms White subsequently provided a signed acceptance to her offer of compensation on 22 May 2017.

(c) Ms White’s decision to seek compensation was based on Machinery of Government changes which would lead to her position as Director General of the Department for Child Protection and Family Support becoming redundant on 1 July 2017.

(d) 7 April, 9 May and 18 May 2017

(e) $355,695

(f) $355,695 compensation (Section 59(2))
