TINDALE–NORNALUP
ROAD — GREAT SOUTHERN
267. Hon RICK MAZZA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to Nornalup Road between
Rocky Gully and Bow Bridge, which is a popular and picturesque shortcut that
reduces the driving time to Denmark by 50 minutes.
(1) Is the minister aware that severe degradation of
the road surface has resulted in making it almost impassable?
(2) Which
department or authority is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of
Nornalup Road between Rocky Gully and Bow Bridge?
(3) What is the expected time frame
to return this road to a reasonable and safe condition?
Hon STEPHEN DAWSON
replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The Tindale–Nornalup road links Muir
Highway near Rocky Gully to South Western Highway near Bow Bridge. This
route contains both Tindale Road and Nornalup Road as a continuous route. Both
roads are local roads, which are managed by the Shire of Plantagenet, in the
case of Nornalup Road, and the Shire of Denmark, in the case of Tindale Road.
(3) This is a matter for the Shire
of Plantagenet and Shire of Denmark.
