FOSTER CARE —
ABUSE ALLEGATIONS
690. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the Leader of the House's
answer to my question without notice 622, asked on 21 August 2018, in which she
informed the house that a male foster carer in Newman has been served with a restraining
order and that the department is reviewing his status as a foster carer.
(1) When did the
review commence?
(2) When is the
review expected to be completed?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) The review
commenced on 13 June 2018.
(2) Given the
complex nature of carer reviews, inquiries are ongoing and are dependent on
individual circumstances. In addition to the review, the Department of
Communities continues to take the necessary steps to appropriately protect and
support children. If any concerns for child safety are raised, they will be
investigated and, if required, will be acted upon immediately.
