Question Without Notice No. 591 asked in the Legislative Council on 16 June 2020 by Hon Peter Collier

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Answered on

CORRUPTION AND CRIME COMMISSION — OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES

591. Hon PETER COLLIER to the Leader of the House representing the Attorney General:

I ask this question on behalf of Hon Michael Mischin, who is away on urgent parliamentary business.

I refer to the answer to question without notice 570 of 11 June 2020 regarding the list of ongoing and emerging operational activities obtained on 2 April 2020.

(1) Did the Attorney General request the list; and, if so, when, from whom, and what was the reason he gave for seeking it?

(2) If the Attorney General did not request the list, can he explain in detail how he came to be supplied with it and whether, to his knowledge, Hon John McKechnie knew it was being supplied for the stated purpose?

(3) Can the request be tabled, or a reason provided for not doing so?

(4) Can any correspondence applying to the list be tabled, or a reason provided for not doing so?

(5) In what way was the list of ongoing and emerging operational activities of the commission relevant to and necessary for the appointment of the Corruption and Crime Commissioner?

(6) Apart from the Attorney General, who else in the Attorney General's office has seen the list, and why?

Hon SUE ELLERY replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(6) Please refer to the answer to Legislative Council question without notice 570.
