CYCLONE SEROJA — REPORTING
620. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to severe tropical cyclone
Seroja quarterly reporting.
(1) When was the most recent STC
Seroja quarterly report published?
(2) Which agencies or stakeholders
are provided with copies of the quarterly report?
(3) Will the minister please table
all STC Seroja quarterly reports to date?
(4) When will the next quarterly
report be published and tabled?
Hon
STEPHEN DAWSON replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) The
STC Seroja quarterly report is the mechanism in the approved guidelines for the
approved category C or D assistance measures for the state to provide
information and advice to the commonwealth on the status of the program and
emerging issues. States must reach agreement with the commonwealth on public
acknowledgement of commonwealth assistance, which includes reporting. As such,
the reports cannot be released without commonwealth approvals. Local
governments are provided with monthly cyclone Seroja recovery updates which
provide statistics on the uptake in each location. These are discussed at
council meetings and local recovery coordination group meetings.
