Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 847 asked in the Legislative Council on 15 August 2019 by Hon Martin Aldridge

Minister responding: Hon M.H. Roberts
Parliament: 40 Session: 1

Answered on 15 August 2019

847. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the minister representing the Minister for Police:

I refer to question without notice 832, answered on 14 August 2019, about rents that are charged to police officers utilising Government Regional Officers' Housing.

(1) For each financial year between 2015–16 to 2019–20, what was the amount of the maximum annual rent increase for Western Australia police officers that was applied under the tenant rent–setting framework policy?

(2) Has a decision been made on whether an additional appropriation will be made to the WA Police Force to cover the 21 May 2019 post-budget decision not to pass on budgeted rent increases to police officers at a cost of $1.3 million?

(3) If yes to (2), what is that decision?

I thank the member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the Minister for Police.

(1) The maximum annual rent increase in 2015–16 was $10 a week; $10 a week in 2016–17, with the balance absorbed by the WA Police Force; $30 a week in 2017–18; $30 per week in 2018–19; and no increase in 2019–20.

(2) This is subject to ongoing consideration.

(3) Not applicable.
