CORRUPTION AND CRIME
COMMISSION — OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES
570. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Leader of the House representing the Attorney General:
This question is asked on behalf of
Hon Michael Mischin.
I refer to a letter from the
Premier to the Leader of the Opposition dated 7 April 2020 regarding the
appointment of the Corruption and Crime Commission, wherein he states —
We have been supplied with a list of
the ongoing and emerging operational activities of the Commission which would be interrupted by a change of
Commissioner at this time, or by the absence of any Commissioner (with
an acting Commissioner stepping into the role).
(1) Has the Attorney General been
supplied with or seen such a list?
(2) When and from whom did he
obtain access to it and for what purpose?
(3) Who else in
the Attorney General's office or to his knowledge among his ministerial
colleagues has seen such a list?
(4) Is the list the source of his assertion in the
Legislative Assembly on 28 May 2020 that there is a ''current, ongoing
inquiry'' into alleged ''sexual exploitation of minors overseas''?
(5) If no to (4), what is the
source of the information on which the assertion is based?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I
am just going to have one more quick look, because I have seen the question. I do
not have it in my file. If it comes in before the end of question time,
I will provide the member with an answer.
