AGRICULTURE — DECLARED PEST RATE

1239. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the Minister for Agriculture and Food:

I refer to the financial years 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20 and 2021–22.

(1) What was the total of the declared pest rate collected from landholders for each of the state's recognised biosecurity groups for each financial year?

(2) What is the number of landholders who refused to pay the DPR for each financial year?

(3) For each occurrence of payment refusal of the DPR by a landholder, what was the resultant outcome or recourse undertaken by the state?

(2) RevenueWA holds data on the rate of payment of the declared pest rate. The level of non-payment varies between years and between operational areas.

(3) RevenueWA manages the processes for payment of the DPR on behalf of the state. Landholders who have not paid the initial DPR notice will receive a final notice. Following the outcome from the final notice, a demand notice may be sent for remaining unpaid rates. The Commissioner of State Revenue has the authority to pursue any unpaid rates.
