Question Without Notice No. 1365 asked in the Legislative Council on 20 November 2019 by Hon Ken Baston

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

JUVENILE OFFENDING — DERBY AND BROOME

1365. Hon KEN BASTON to the minister representing the Minister for Police:

(1) Could the minister please advise the number of vehicles reported stolen during October and November 2019 in Broome and Derby?

(2) Could the minister please advise the total number of burglary-related offences reported during October and November 2019 in Broome and Derby?

(3) Could the minister please advise how many people under the age of 18 years have been arrested in relation to these offences during October and November 2019 in Broome and Derby?

Hon STEPHEN DAWSON replied:

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister for Police.

(1)–(2) To improve transparency and access to accurate information, since December 2018 more detailed crime statistics, including on a town-by-town and suburb-by-suburb basis, have been published by the Western Australia Police Force. The December quarter 2019 crime statistics will be published in early 2020.

(3) The Western Australia Police Force advises it is not possible to provide a response within the required time period. If the honourable member wants an answer to that part of the question, I suggest that he place that part of the question on notice.
