Parliamentary Questions

Question Without Notice No. 258 asked in the Legislative Council on 21 March 2019 by Hon Robin Scott

Parliament: 40 Session: 1

BBI GROUP — RAIL INFRASTRUCTURE — PILBARA

258. Hon ROBIN SCOTT to the minister representing the Minister for State Development, Jobs and Trade:

I refer to question without notice 142 answered by the minister on Tuesday, 12 March 2019.

(1) Will the minister confirm that on 19 March 2019, Flinders Mines Ltd announced a revised application to the Australian Securities Exchange for delisting?

(2) Will the minister confirm that in an online article in The Australian Financial Review on 17 March 2019 Matthew Stevens wrote that the protesting minority shareholders ''hold that Todd and their board are emphasising the negative with the aim to capturing a greater share of Flinders' longer-term value''?

(3) Given the minister has advised that the 18-month extension was granted to allow BBI Group to finalise agreements and bank funding for the project, when will the minister receive a progress report on the finalisation of agreements and bank funding?

Hon ALANNAH MacTIERNAN replied:

I thank the member for the question. The Minister for State Development, Jobs and Trade has provided the following answer.

(1) Yes.

(2) The Premier is aware of an online opinion piece in which Matthew Stevens makes this claim.

(3) The company must submit proposals by 30 September 2020. The department meets regularly with the company to discuss all matters pertaining to the state agreement and the project. Once these matters have progressed, it is expected that the company will advise the department and the Premier accordingly.
