TAFE INTERNATIONAL
WESTERN AUSTRALIA —AUSTRALIAN SKILLS QUALITY AUTHORITY REGISTRATION
1411. Hon ALISON XAMON to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to the 31 January 2019
Australian Skills Quality Authority's decision to not renew
registration for TAFE International Western Australia for 14 qualifications.
(1) When was the decision revoked?
(2) Which TAFE colleges were
delivering those qualifications on behalf of TIWA?
(3) If TIWA were
to lose ASQA registration for qualifications, what, if any, impact would that
have on domestic students enrolled in the same qualification at the same
college?
Hon SUE
ELLERY replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The decision
was revoked on 22 May 2019. TAFE International Western Australia is regulated
by the Australian Skills Quality Authority, which is the national regulator for
registered training organisations and international education providers. TIWA's
ASQA registration has been renewed for a further seven years. ASQA identified
compliance issues with 14 qualifications on TIWA's scope of
registration, and a reconsideration
application was submitted. ASQA has confirmed that all outstanding
noncompliances have been addressed and now it meets all compliance
requirements.
(2) North
Metropolitan TAFE, South Metropolitan TAFE, North Regional TAFE, Central
Regional TAFE and South Regional TAFE are delivering those qualifications.
(3) There would be no impact on
domestic students.
