PALLIATIVE CARE —
2019–20 STATE BUDGET
1104. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the parliamentary secretary representing
the Minister for Health:
I refer to the 74 per cent increase
in regional palliative care funding announced for 2019–20 and note that
we are about to enter the second quarter of the financial year.
(1) Does the government now have a plan
for the expenditure of these additional funds?
(2) If yes to (1), what is the
plan?
(3) On what date did the minister
note or approve the plan?
(4) On what date did the cabinet
note or approve the plan?
Hon ALANNA CLOHESY
replied:
I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) The
WA Country Health Service is currently working carefully to ensure equity of
access across the seven regions, so that people can benefit from receiving
safe, high-quality palliative care regardless of where they live. WACHS has
initiated a comprehensive review of existing models of service delivery. This
will help refine the models of care to best support the needs of those patients
with potential access challenges and best fit the diverse geographic
environment of rural and remote WA. Details of the plan will be released once
finalised.
