DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING, LANDS AND HERITAGE — ABORIGINAL HERITAGE SECTION

1309. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the minister representing the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs:

I refer to the Aboriginal heritage section of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage.

(1) What are the titles of all the current full-time equivalent positions within the Aboriginal heritage section of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage?

(2) What are the responsibilities of all the current FTE positions within the Aboriginal heritage section of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage?

(3) What is the current annual budget for the Aboriginal heritage section of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.

(1)–(2) Aboriginal heritage is supported by all functions of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage. Positions in the department that provide Aboriginal heritage services in the entirety of their roles are as follows. I have a list that contains a title, the number of full-time equivalents and at which branch it is located in the agency. Rather than read out a significant list, I seek leave to have that information incorporated into Hansard.

Director Partnerships and Agreements (1.0 FTE) – Manager South West Settlement, Projects and Regional Services, Noongar Standard Heritage Agreements, training and information on Indigenous Land Use Agreements

Senior Heritage Project Officer (1.0 FTE) – South West Native Title Settlement/Noongar Standard Heritage Agreements and projects

Manager Heritage Projects (1.0 FTE) – Manager regional services, repatriation of ancestral remains and sacred objects, grants, projects

Principal Heritage Officer Regions (1.0 FTE) – Regional services, repatriation of ancestral remains and sacred objects, grants, projects

Heritage Support Officer (2.0 FTEs) – Project support to Heritage Projects team

Senior Projects Officer (1.0 FTE) – Grants administration and project support to Heritage Projects team

Senior Heritage Officer Regions (4.8 FTEs) – Regional based Aboriginal Heritage officers assisting both the South West Settlement, Projects and Regional Services and the Aboriginal Heritage Operations teams

Project Manager (2.0 FTEs), Executive Officer (1.0 FTE) – Aboriginal Heritage Act Review and Reform (Note: The Aboriginal Heritage Act Review and Reform is also supported by other positions in the Department.)

Director Aboriginal Heritage Operations (Registrar) (1.0 FTE), Team Leader (3.0 FTEs), Senior Heritage Officer (3.0 FTEs), Heritage Officer (2.0 FTEs), Heritage Support Officer (7.0 FTEs), Management Support Officer (1.0 FTE), Heritage Information Officer (1.0 FTE), Heritage Information Officer (1.0 FTE) – Sections 16 and 18 and Regulation 10 applications, heritage place assessments, heritage site information and general advice

ACMC Support Officer (1.0 FTE) – Supports the operation of the Aboriginal Cultural Material Committee

 

Positions in the department that provide Aboriginal heritage services as a part of their roles, but not entirely, are as follows. Again, I have a list and I seek leave to also have this bit incorporated into Hansard.

(3) The 2019–20 budget for Aboriginal Heritage is $4.67 million. The honourable member may wish to seek a briefing on the role of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage from the director general.
