PERTH CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL — JACOBS REPORT
405. Hon PETER COLLIER to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the Jacobs report into the Perth Children's Hospital and I note that under the synopsis of potable water, the reference to thermostatic mixing valves indicates that metallurgical testing for the installed thermostatic mixing valves has been undertaken by ChemCentre and that the corresponding result was clear.
What has changed since this testing that has led the minister to claim that the thermostatic mixing valves at Perth Children's hospital was the culprit for elevated lead levels?
Hon ALANNA CLOHESY replied:
I thank the member for some notice of the question.
I am advised by the Department of Health that the Chief Health Officer's report was released by the Minister for Health on 11 August 2017. This report identified the internal surfaces of some of the brass components of the thermostatic mixing valve assembly boxes as showing evidence of significant dezincification.
