URGENT CARE CLINIC —
GERALDTON
678. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I
refer to the ABC online news article of 4 January 2019 entitled ''Elderly
woman forced to lie on floor of Geraldton Regional Hospital due to lack
of beds''.
(1) Did the
minister meet with the acting director general of the Department of Health and
the chief executive officer of the WA Country Health Service, as he is quoted
in this article, suggesting it to have been a matter of urgency; and, if so,
what was the date of the meeting;
(2) Will the
minister please table any briefing material that was provided to him in relation
to this incident?
(3) Was an
investigation or review undertaken by the WA Country Health Service or
Department of Health, as suggested in the article; and, if so, will the
minister please table the report arising from such an inquiry?
(4) In light of this incident, the number of code
yellow declarations made by the hospital in recent months, and the
minister's recent answer to Legislative Council question without notice
534, will the minister now fast-track an urgent care clinic in Geraldton, as
committed to by the Labor Party at the last state election?
Hon ALANNA CLOHESY
replied:
